What Happens to Your Files
Complete transparency about the journey of every file you upload — where it goes, what touches it, and when it's gone for good.
The full lifecycle, step by step
Your file travels from your device to our server over an encrypted HTTPS/TLS connection — the same protection online banking uses. Nobody on your network or in between can read it.
Before anything else, we check the file's real signature and internal structure against its claimed type. Disguised, corrupted, or malicious files are rejected here. Archives are checked against decompression-bomb attacks.
The conversion or edit runs in an isolated working directory. Your file is never mixed with other users' files, and no human ever opens or reviews it.
The finished file is made available through a single-use download link. You grab it — that's the only copy that leaves our server.
Within 20 minutes, an automatic janitor permanently deletes your original upload, the converted output, and all temporary working files. No backups, no archives, no lingering copies.
What we never do
- We never sell your files or data. Your documents are not a product.
- We never read your documents. Processing is automated end to end.
- We never keep files long-term. Everything is deleted within 20 minutes.
- We never require an account. No sign-up means nothing tied to your identity.
- We never share files with third parties. They stay on our server until deletion.
Why 20 minutes?
It's long enough to comfortably complete a conversion and download the result — even a large file on a slow connection — but short enough that your data isn't sitting around. A file that no longer exists cannot be leaked, subpoenaed, or stolen. Short retention is the single most effective privacy control we can offer, so we lean on it hard.
The security behind the scenes
Beyond deletion, several layers protect your files while they're briefly with us:
- Encrypted transport — TLS/HTTPS on every request.
- Signature validation — files are checked before processing, not trusted by extension.
- Isolated processing — each job runs in its own working space.
- Rate limiting & abuse protection — automated defences against bulk misuse.
- AES-256 encryption — available on demand via the Protect PDF tool.
